Looking at Datadog after earnings

Datadog said it earned $284,000 in the quarter when most analysts had expected it to lose money. The stock is down about 12% right now. How does the management team not know it's way cooler to lose money? They clearly did not study the Hooli playbook well enough.

I'm just joking.

But I am looking at Datadog after earnings and well, it has me thinking. This thing has popped higher on very little volume relative to its IPO day and volume profile since that day. I've marked the POC on the chart with "Yikes."

Has this name gone too far too fast? I'll be watching.

For those who have used the Datadog product, I hear it is good. So that does say something.

There are a few strong competitors in this space in my opinion, DataDog, SparkFX, and NewRelic for metrics. I see the top two as being NewRelic and DataDog. This will rebound but people are skittish and the market overall is down today. Long term holder.

@cyberious, New Relic is a little different than DataDog. New Relic focuses on Application performance monitoring while DD focuses on Cloud scale monitoring. Just read a recommendations in TD Ameritrade about DD being a buy (along with Zoom and ETSY). Don't go against the market, the wave. I'm sure a correction is coming.
@Lanmar, yeah but it's impossible to time the market. No one knows when the next correction is coming. I thought March would have been a major one, and look where we are now?

@fleveneur, if your strategy is buy and hold solid companies, then usually any attempt to time the market isn't wise. Short term traders essentially time markets for a living knowing many times we'll be wrong, but have a positive expectancy
Good find, the VPVR POC makes sense for sure. Very reasonable landing zone if the breakdown happens.

eww.. yikes is right!! The Volume profile shows that path of least resistance.... I may have to dust that indicator off and toy with it again!
