The reaction with which such sanctions were imposed speaks volumes. My sources tell me that Russia struck just one or two days before NATO would have put its troops into Ukraine to stop the Ukrainian forces from destroying the Donbass region.

Well, this already have happened with Libya, when Europe and the United States stole all the money of the Gaddafi family.
The assets of the LIA (related to Gaddafi family), according to the official report of the fund itself, in September 2010 amounted to $64.2 billion, of which $20.8 billion was kept in cash and deposits at the Central Bank of Libya and other banks, including HSBC and Goldman Sachs. The LIA's portfolio included securities of Eni, Siemens, Pearson, Rusal, Norilsk Nickel, BASF, Repsol, General Electric, Bayer, BP, Pfizer, AT&T, Deutsche Telecom, Vodafone, Gazprom, Citigroup, Nokia, Coca-Cola and others. The $3.2 billion invested in bonds and $4 billion in private equity funds. Sovereign wealth fund companies, such as Oil Invest, were valued at $24.7 billion. The remaining $4.3 billion was listed in the report as "other."
