JPX futures updated: settlement prices, back-adjustment, and Open interest on your charts

Feb 28

An essential update for our futures community and those dealing in the Japanese market: futures from the Osaka Exchange and Tokyo Commodity Exchange have gained new functionality to enhance data visibility and offer expanded opportunities for precise futures market analysis.

Settlement price

With this update, you can choose between displaying the Settlement or Last price as the closing value of the contracts on the chart. To switch between these values, click the “SET” button at the bottom of the chart or check the “Use settlement as close on daily interval” option in the chart settings.

The Settlement price is the value determined by the exchange at the close of a trading day with the averages of final asks and bids. It’s popular among traders as it offers a clearer understanding of the position’s gains and losses. However, it’s important to note that the settlement price is not shown in intraday intervals. If you want to know more about Settlement and Last price, please read this article.

Back-adjustment

You can now back-adjust previous contracts in continuous futures of the OSE and TOCOM exchanges. This will eliminate the gap caused by price differences between different contracts and provide a clearer picture.

To enable this feature, just click the “B-ADJ” button at the bottom of the chart or select the “Adjust for contracts changes” option in the settings. For more information, you can always consult our Help center.

Open Interest

Finally, we have added the capability to track the Open Interest value for futures. This functionality showcases the total count of derivative contracts that are still open and unsettled, offering a useful tool for a comprehensive assessment of futures. To view this data, go to the Indicators, Metrics & Strategies menu and choose the Open Interest indicator.

We hope these updates to the futures of the Osaka Exchange and Tokyo Commodity Exchange will help you better navigate futures markets and find more valuable insights. Don’t forget that our platform reliably connects to hundreds of data feeds, with direct access to 1,357,880 instruments from all over the world.
