Lights, Camera, Action! Video Ideas are Now Available

Jan 30, 2018

Our most active users have probably noticed that the ideas page started including videos. This feature was available to a certain number of users since we were running a closed beta. We are happy to inform you that we’ve now made this feature available to all users. You can now share your ideas and thoughts on different asset classes, technical indicators or anything else that comes to your mind by recording a short video. Keep in mind that you’d still have to follow the house rules since video ideas are treated the same way as regular ones.

All you need is a webcam and a mic to get started. You’d also need Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browser since they are the only ones that support screen recording currently.

If you are using Chrome, please install a special TradingView extension that will enable screen recording. In order to record a video simply go to the chart page and click the play button.

Your browser will request access to your webcam and mic. Note that TradingView has no control over the quality of audio and video in your video idea. The quality will depend on your webcam/mic settings which is why we strongly suggest to test the quality before recording a video. You could also record a test video without having to post it.

If you are having issues while recording your videos with Chrome browser try using Firefox instead. We’ve noticed that Chrome could be causing some issues that have nothing to do with TradingView itself.

Once you’ve given your browser access to your webcam and mic make sure that you select a screen that will be used in your video recording. You should be able to see a 3 second countdown timer after selecting the screen.

Note that you’ll be able to turn your mic and webcam on/off during the recording. The webcam is always turned off by default.

The duration of your video idea can’t be longer than 10 minutes. The recording will stop once it reaches the time limit. A countdown timer will notify you that you are about to run out of time.

Regardless of whether you pressed the Stop & Publish button or simply ran out of time, you should be able to see a dialog window that shows what you’ve recorded. Your video is being uploaded and you’d have to wait till the end. Simply click the Continue to Publishing button to continue.

The next step is identical to regular ideas – simply complete all required fields and wait for the video idea to appear on our platform.

To give you an example, we included some video ideas from our users. Take a look at the video ideas on crypto and fiat currencies below.

BTCUSD – A Discussion on Entries, Stops, & Targets from Akil_Stokes
USDCHF – Multi-Timeframe Video Analysis from TomHall

Lastly, authors of the most popular video ideas will have a chance to be featured in our Education Section. We understand the importance of quality over quantity which is why we are willing to reward the creators of quality content.

We’d like to thank everyone who participated in the closed beta. Your feedback helped us greatly in getting this feature ready for the public release.

We hope that you’ll enjoy sharing your thoughts using this new format and will enrich our platform by creating quality content. As always, your feedback is highly appreciated. Stay tuned for updates as we keep adding new features on a regular basis.
